Canada REACHES for Excellence and Mission

On June 14 and 15, 2011 two dozen leaders from the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada caucused at the Church headquarters to explore a collaborative plan. REACH provided them a framework—or common language—to plan together.

“College and university leaders joined ADRA, It is Written Canada, Canadian Union departmental staff, and all seven conference presidents,” according to Paul S. Brantley, retreat facilitator.

The Church in Canada is diverse in many ways. Its geographic boundaries exceed that of its neighbor to the south and its population is no less diverse. And yet, they found inspiration in each other. They discussed mutual concerns and set BHAGS (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) that they would like to achieve over the next three to five years.

In addition, they began working from templates to formulate their own distinctive plans—a process that will take place over time. “The momentum must continue,” states President Mark Johnson.
